Berlin 6th form Study Visit
SIXTH FORM VISIT TO BERLIN
The four day German visit to Berlin was an amazing experience and allowed us to see German life first hand. One of our favourite places to visit was the Story of Berlin Museum; it was really interesting and told the story of Berlin throughout the ages. It had lots of buttons to press and things to do! Some of the other highlights included eating wild boar, going to the Weihnachtsmarkt (the German Christmas market), attending German mass in Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche and going up the TV tower and admiring the views of Berlin from 390 metres up in the air. We really enjoyed visiting the Checkpoint Charlie Museum as it told us all about the Berlin wall and people’s attempts to escape over it. There were even parts of the original wall still standing!
We got a few hours to also do some shopping in the Christmas market where everything was quirky and mostly hand made. There were lovely Christmas decorations that we brought back for our families. We also visited one of the best shopping streets in Berlin where most of us spent our last remaining euros in H&M! Pretzels were everywhere in Berlin and we all found them astoundingly delicious! We were astonished to see such an efficient underground system in Berlin, which allowed passengers to even transport bicycles! Overall, we would definitely recommend that everyone learning German, travels to Berlin, not only to practice their German; but also to get to know one another better!
