Language College
In recognition of our reputation as a centre of excellence for the teaching of modern languages, SJB was awarded Specialist Language College status in 1997. We were amongst the first schools nationwide to achieve this and are proud to continue to excel in this field.
Spanish, Italian, French and German are all firmly established in the curriculum, our Mandarin breakfast club is flourishing and keen linguists of all ages join our growing programme of twilight classes with many languages on offer - amongst them Urdu.
Our continuing investment in cutting edge specialized language ICT facilities, (incorporating the latest interactive language programmes and broadband Internet access) provides a stimulating and performance-enhancing environment and allows our students regular and easy contact with their partner schools and pen-friends abroad.
This, along with our continual focus on the development of creative and innovative teaching in languages, has ensured that all our languages at GCSE achieve an A*- C pass rate of above 80% with every student studying at least one language and our A Level results are 100% A - C for the past five years.
